Jr. Preschool Program at Hill and Dale

GENERAL DETAILS

We have two rooms for this age range that starts at 21 months through 36 months of age at the beginning of the school year. The maximum ratio in the Jr. preschool area starts at 8 children per teacher, with a maximum of 10 children at a time when the average age is 36 months.

Our Curriculum

As a jr. preschooler at Hill and Dale, your child will:

  • Begin to grow in independence
  • Expand their vocabulary from 50 to 400 words and begin using 2-4 word sentences
  • Develop self-help skills when serving themselves at lunch time and learning to change their own clothes
  • Learn through teacher-directed activities, but learn mainly from their own exploration
  • Begin mimicking experiences through make believe play
  • Begin to learn about geometry when grouping objects by shapes and sizes
  • Begin to follow two-step directions
  • Develop their large motor skills by having the opportunity to run, climb and slide on the playground
  • Develop their small/fine motor skills, writing skills and overall creativity by drawing, painting and playing with play dough

Your child will feel secure by having a predictable daily schedule that they understand and follow.

Health and Safety

Health and safety are our top priority at Hill and Dale. All toys are sanitized daily, mouthed toys are removed and cleaned after a child has played with them. In addition, each child has their own cot that is cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis and as needed. To ensure the identity of all adults authorized to withdraw your child, we use a fingerprinting method to verify adults who come to check-out children. Along with monthly fire drills, the Clark County Fire Department also conducts disaster and earthquake drills.
